Outdoor and indoor spaces, and cultural spheres, are contained within a network of connections, in which the protagonist plays a part in the drawings. The drawings were based on extracts of photos taken with the artist as the protagonist, but which were not taken as a photographic work. The performative approach in the photos continues in the drawings, giving rise to a new context with regard to content and form, a context that remains enigmatic. Whereas the small-format drawings are exclusively in black and white, the large-format drawings add a form element in gouache colours. The “White Screen” photos show an obstructed view into empty shop units in a Cairo mall. The panes of glass have been painted with white paint; traces of third parties are beginning to appear.
